GIS Services

Municipalities are increasing their use of GIS to provide spatial environments to assist them in their day-to-day operations. These operations require detailed and up-to-date land information, consisting of parcel maps, transportation data, hydrography, aerial photography, and Oil/ Gas well and pipeline data, to name but a few.

AAG has realized this emerging need and has increased its involvement in GIS with the realization that assessment and GIS information are a natural fit when it comes to providing municipalities with integrated data and information systems.

AAG's GIS department focuses exclusively on municipal government GIS. This is due to the fact that AAG has extensive experience with municipal government data from all departments. We have created many tools and custom applications that are designed specifically for municipal government applications.

AAG is an Intergraph Registered Solution Provider, and has an Intergraph Certified Developer on staff. We also employ a Microsoft Certified Solution Professional (MCSP). These certifications and partnerships allow AAG to provide a high level of service to its clients with the backing and support of two large international technology companies. AAG believes in the Open Geospatial Consortium's concepts of interoperability, therefore all of AAG's GIS solutions operate on a wide variety of GIS platforms.

MapWiz

MapWiz is a tool developed by AAG that allows all a client's GIS tools, utilities, and information sources to be brought together into a single desktop access point. This provides our clients with "one stop access" to:

• GIS programs and data
• maps (for viewing and/ or printing)
• licensing agreements
• file locations
• system configuration files, and
• any other programs/ applications they would like fast access to.
  

Data Creation

• Parcel layers/ labels - Create polygons with intelligent identifiers such as tax roll number, linc number or legal description.
• Assessment layers - Create spatial representations for assessment related features such as farmland, assessed buildings, market land sites and location codes with an intelligent link back to the assessment system.
• Dispositions - Digitize the disposition information that is submitted to Sustainable Resource Development (SRD) and turn it into a useable GIS layer.
• Rural Addresses – Create and implement rural addressing systems for municipalities.
• Hand-held GPS Data Collection - Create workflows and procedures for the collection and integration of hand-held GPS data collection in the field.
• Video-GPS Data Capture - Have partnered with Farpoint and Geo-3D to facilitate the creation of asset data (e.g., signs, culverts, bridges, etc...).

Data Migration

Using utilities and tools developed by AAG, culture and GIS data can be migrated to and synchronized with a wide variety of data formats and information sources.

AAG also uses software that has the ability to read and write to almost any type of data used in GIS (over 200 types). This software can be used to convert any type of GIS data into any other type of GIS data. It is very useful for converting data created by 3rd party contractors to the municipality into the same format as the rest of the municipality’s data.

Viewers

Creation and customization of both desktop and web-based viewers for municipal governments that use a combination of commonly-used spatial data types including, but not limited to:

• CAD (AutoCAD and Microstation),
• Shape, and
• Database (Access, SQL Server, Oracle)

Custom Mapping

Creation of custom maps for municipalities such as:

• Ownership maps
• Oil/ Gas maps
• Fire District maps
• Elevation maps
• Graveling maps

Using Label- EZ software we can generate custom labels for mapping/ workspace purposes or resell them as independent text layers.

Custom GIS Setup/ Training/ Support

Our GIS specialists perform on-site, custom setup of GIS software and data. Each workspace (software interface) is customized to the needs of each individual/ department in the office.

We also conduct in-house software training using each municipality's specific data, therefore, employees understand both the GIS technology (software) and the GIS data that make up their system.

Telephone support and visits to municipal offices are provided as often as required by the client.

Image Compression

Compress raster images, including air photos and satellite imagery, reducing them in file size to free up more computer resources for increased system performance and ease of use, without reducing image quality.

Data Resale/ Marketing

Coordination of the data marketing, licensing, invoicing, and delivery for data resale on behalf of municipalities to 3rd parties.
